Amazon uses AI to generate images

Amazon's NEW AI Image Generator empowers advertisers to elevate their game and create more engaging ads.

Advertising has always been both an art and a science, and the artistic component is about to become much easier.

Following a study conducted in March 2023, Amazon found that among brands struggling to execute successful campaigns, nearly 75% cited crafting ad creatives and selecting a creative format as their biggest challenges.

With this in mind, Amazon Ads has launched an AI-powered image generator in beta. A generative AI solution designed to eliminate creative barriers and enable brands to produce lifestyle images that enhance their ad performance.

For example, an advertiser may have standalone product images on a white background, such as a teapot. When that same teapot is placed in a lifestyle context on a kitchen counter, alongside utensils in a sponsored brand mobile ad, click-through rates can be 40% higher than ads with standard product images.

Whether for advertisers of all sizes, the AI image generator offers an efficient solution to save time and reduce costs, ideal for those lacking in-house skills or wishing to avoid agency fees. Brands also benefit from this innovation, enabling them to create their content more quickly and easily. Finally, wholesalers expanding their brand portfolios will find great value in this image generation feature, easy to use and accessible without technical expertise.

In the Amazon Ad Console, advertisers benefit from a streamlined process. They simply select their product, then click "Generate" using the AI image generator. This tool uses artificial intelligence to instantly create a set of varied images, based on theme, lifestyle, brand, and product details. Afterward, the image can be fine-tuned with brief text, while multiple versions can be quickly produced and tested to optimize performance.

Amazon Ads has begun rolling out image generation to a select group of advertisers and will expand availability over time. Amazon Ads will continue to enhance the experience based on customer feedback.
